Favorites

Hey All!

How would one add a channel into GB but not list it in the guide (IE favorites). The favorites checkbox in the Channels config doesn't seem to do anything for me nor can I find it referenced anywhere in the wiki to find out what it does.

Basically I would like to remove any PPV from my TVguide but still be able to setup a manual recording for a PPV channel should I need to.

How does one go about this?

Also is there any way to completely clear the EPG (channels and info) so can start from scratch? My first dump from labs had some channels I don't get and while I have manually disabled some of them, there are just to many to go one by one.

Sorry, there is no built in functionality to do this. If you've added a channel, its going to show up in the tv guide.

To be honest, I'm not sure it does anything these days. Its been about two years since I last tried it. It used to be that pressing channel up/down in live tv would skip non-favourite channels. To get to these channels you could still type the channel number and press enter.

Hahahah...ok so I'm not going nutts...I couldn't for the life of me figure out what that checkbox did for me.

Any chance this may be a future feature? It would be nice to be able to set guide profiles so I could switch to a "Sport" profile that lists only my sports channels etc....My current BEV reciever can do it and it was one of the nicest features of that box. Escpecially with all the PPV channels, it would be nice to not have to scroll through them all since you don't get any detail anyways...

I'll probably test and fix the favourites feature to check it works the way I described above.

I might be able to do the other stuff you request, but it'll be in a future release. I think the XGuide plugin already lets you do this.

I just added "composite" and "s-video" to do some capture using GBPVR. These two new channels are showing up in my TV Guide, and deselecting them on "favourites" does not clear them.

I tried a plugin called "TV Guide", which does take in account the favourites, but it does not work for the live-tv guide (which is the one I mostly use), nor can I find any way to launch it via the <Guide> button on my remote.

Is there any other way to hide utility recording channels from the TV Guide and the up/down channel changer?
