US PC in another country?

My wife has just accepted a job in Jakarta, Indonesia and will be moving there next month. I am currently investigating which of the creature comforts from home will be available in Indonesia should I decide to move. The biggest hurdle I'm trying to overcome is the difference in electricity. I've been told that they run on 220v which is different than the U.S. Will I need to buy some sort of power converter for my computers and laptops? I've spent quite a lot of money on my PVR and I do intend to take it with me should I decide to go as well. Of course, I'll have to invest in some PAL tuners but that's another story.

Check the laptop power cord and power adapter, it most likley is 110 to 220V AC capable, as most are. Also for your desktops check the back of the power supply and see if there is a switch to change it to input 220V AC again most are. This saves having to manufacture two different kinds.

Hopefully your tuners will do both Pal and NTSC

Unfortunately no. I have a Hauppauge PVR 500, a USB2, and a DViCO HDTV Fusion 5 Lite. None of these work with PAL. I'm not too worried though. I'll be in the U.S for several more months so I'll have plenty of time to prepare.

Now, to figure out if someone makes a PAL/NTSC Flat Panel HDTV with a DVI input...

Unfortunately no. I have a Hauppauge PVR 500, a USB2, and a DViCO HDTV Fusion 5 Lite. None of these work with PAL. I'm not too worried though. I'll be in the U.S for several more months so I'll have plenty of time to prepare.

Another option is to find an HDTV panel which has a VGA mode then you can run the HTPC VGA output into it. That is how I run my Sansui HDPDP4200-C unit. I like the VGA 1024*768 input better than the DVI input.
