I have a dual tuner card (pvr500mce).

One is used for Sky (composite) and the other for terrestrial via the antenna.

A problem that comes up time and time again is if I want to record a program that is on terrestrial and then schedule a Sky recording that occurs at the same time - the Sky tuner has been reserved for the terrestrial show and I have to cancel it and then rebook it.

Ideally I would like the Default tuner to be the Sky tuner - better reception etc, but I'd like to be able to override this - I have some reception problems on terrestrial, and so I'd like to be able to know that the bad channels use the Sky tuner etc.

The amount of times I've got in trouble with the other half because my shows record fine, but hers use the bad reception channel is unbelievable...

The closer to the top of the capture source list in config app, the higher the priority of the tuner. This info should hopefully help you.

However, Live-TV takes the lowest priority tuner in the list.

LOL... I am a bit confused here though. You have a Tuner with identical capture facilities for each channel (STB+Good Reception vs. FTA+Poor Reception).

Surely it's just an issue that the WIFU's programs "happen" to be on the FTA+Poor Reception. I could understand wanting to choose a particular tuner if you have two different ones, and one is a good and the other poor .... but swapping which tuner it records on won't make any difference will it, because the source reception is bad? There you go, explain that to your wife. If you come back we'll know you're still alive... Smile

Haha - funny Smile

Well, you see, with my antenna, some of the channels are intermittant, so if I can avoid those and use the antenna for the consistent channels, and then use the sky tuner for the dodgy ones, then that's good...but if I use the sky for the one that would have been acceptable, and use the terrestrial tuner for a dodgy channel that isn't watchable then it's not a good thing...!

Cheval mentioned that LiveTV takes a lower priority in the list...that's interesting...

I experience some odd results when I upgraded - I had to force the recording to use the good tuner by cancelling all recordings, going to LiveTV, making it switch to the good tuner (selecting a SKY channel that's only available on one tuner) and pressing record. Then I had to go back and manually start the recording on the consistant terrestrial channel - hoping that that would be fine - I'm sure I noticed it then swap them over...I'll need to do some testing I think, but I suppose there's no substitute for knowing the rules!!!

Anyone confused?! Wink

Confused ... not any more, I hope Smile

Lets see, the issue arises because of you and your wife wanting to set a recording at the same time. (I think) you could make your wife happy by installing XRECORD with CDKScheduler. With this you can set the priority of HER (only on known good channels) recordings very high, so they will get recorded rather than your programs ... ?

Quote:CDKScheduler provides a priority recording scheduler for GBPVR. It allows you to specify priorities on shows to be recorded in case of conflicts. It makes sure that the show with the highest priority is always recorded. It also adds the ability to skip duplicates, record in certain time slots, only on certain days, suspend a recording, or numerous other combinations.

Important Note: CDKScheduler is now distributed with XRecord and the XSuite of plugins. Please obtain it from there to prevent problems from arising.

[EDIT] It does appear to have an option in the PriorityRecordings.xml to force the device to the desired source. Others who have actually used it may be help to help you further with this! <CaptureSource force="no">1</CaptureSource>. Have a look at posts listed after a forum search on either PriorityRecordings Capture Source or PriorityRecording Capture Source.

I would only recommend CDK Scheduler if he were using a .96 version of GBPVR. CDK Scheduler doesn't work with .NET 2.0 and the .97x series. Source is available on SourceForge if anybody wants to recompile it and update it to work with .97

JKSMurf is correct, CDK Scheduler will do what he wants, and give much finer grain control over how programs are scheduled. I know Sub plans a priority based recording system in the future, using a rating system, but not sure when that is planned for release.

KingArgyle,

Ahhh..oops. The wiki mihgt a bit confusing on this:

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/CDKScheduler says it MIGHT not work with 97.x OK.
BUT also says
Quote:Important Note: CDKScheduler is now distributed with XRecord and the XSuite of plugins. Please obtain it from there to prevent problems from arising.

and http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/XRecord says
Quote:includes the following: ... CDKScheduler = An alternative to the built in recording scheduler. CDK Scheduler uses ...

but to be fair also says v.46 2006–5−27
Quote:xrecord, xsearch, rectracker and xguide now work with 97.7

It just might make it a bit hard for a new user to follow whether CDK Scheduler really is 97.x compatible ot not.
