I'm never sure whether i'm the first or last to discover something on t'internet - but for all you PC based music users (I'm assuming if you watch TV on the 'puter, you listen to your music from it too, right?) try this for removing those pesky duplicate mp3s.
http://www.pekarna.si/
It's java based and truley brilliant! VERY fast (sorted c.30000 tracks in under 20min on a P3 - more like 5-10 min on my Athlon), and really user friendly - it will cross check differnt formats (wma, mpr, ogg), automatically decide which dupes to remove by a user set filter (bit rate, type etc.) AND it moves the dupes to a folder, rather than delete them completely, so you can check what it's done before you hit no-return button. Best of all it's FREE (bar any worthy paypal donations...)
I've tried MANY other ways to clean my music collection, and this wins hands down.
