where to buy set top box??

I went to 5 places and asked for a cable box.
2 didnt know what I was talking about, 3 said they hadnt seen one in years.

is there any US store that still sells them??
or is ebay my only hope??

Why not get one from your cable company?

But, why do you need one?

The only reason I can think of was to add remote channel changeability to an older tv. Last time I saw one at a retail store it was Radio Shack. But around my area the old cable boxes are gone. The only box the Cable company will rent you is a digital box. And you cant buy them retail for my cable company.

These days cable companies typically own them and will only rent them to you. Also, even if you did find a box for sale, its likely the cable wont enable it for use on their network.

I am still having problems with 2 channels having bad sound when recorded.
I wanted to set up a STB with the IR blaster just for those channels.

I'm not looking for digital or anything.
just a box that used to be used for cable before 100% of the TVs were cable ready.
