Has anyone else noticed that v0.98.8b seems less snappy than previous releases?

For example, the main GB-PVR seems to take a long time to start after I app by right-click the system tray icon and launch it (maybe 10-15 seconds), and when I'm at the main window and click the Live TV button, it can take up to 10 seconds before I start seeing video (my Live TV Pre-Delay setting is 600ms).

Maybe I'm just impatient these days, but it seems that it used to be more responsive.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Got any plugins installed?

How many channels do you have, and how many days worth of listings?

Zip and attach your gbpvr.exe.log and gbpvr.exe-native.log, showing both a starting, and starting live tv, and I'll take a look.

Thanks, Sub. I've attached the logs.

I'm running comskip, and I have 78 channels with 7 days of listings in my program guide.

I love the fast as lightning guide navigation using v0.98.8. Wink
I just spend the extra seconds at startup reminiscing about the v0.95 guide!
I know this is from the twilight zone, but I have a feeling menu navigation is quicker, and video is sharper, using the older (2.5.23242.bin) dongle with my MPV.

Thats odd that you seem to think its slower. Most people have indicated they thought this release was faster.

In your logs it looks like it takes about 8 seconds to start, and about 7 seconds to start live tv, which sound pretty reasonable to me. After this initial overhead you should find attempts channels are quick.

Also, subsequent attempts to view live tv should also be faster than the first time around (since it has to load the drivers etc).

Maybe I'm just getting spoiled? <g>

FWIW, I did run a defrag before generating the logs, so maybe that could explain some of the perceived sluggishness. I'd recently deleted some recordings, added some, and trimmed out commercials manually with Womble.

Thanks for the quick response and the excellent software, Sub.
