Plugin Development Question - SQLite Database

Hey Everyone,
I'm currently writing a plugin for GBPVR and need to store some information in a database. I'm just wondering what the concensus is on adding tables to the GBPVR.db3 database? Is this frowned upon? Is it what most developers do when they need to store data? If not, what is?

It's frowned upon to add your own tables to the GBPVR database. With this said, most developers either go with XML files, or their own databases.

Thanks for the info KingArgyle. I've started using my own sqlite database instead. Seems to be working pretty well so far.
