I'm having trouble figuring out what CDK is doing to schedule my recordings. Here's the setup:

2 VBox ATSC tuners (1st and 2nd capture sources in GBPVR config) - have ONLY OTA channels enabled in config.
1 ATI 550 (3rd source in GBPVR config) - have ONLY cable channels enabled in config.

The problem is that when 2 ATSC shows are on at the same time, the first is scheduled on one of the VBox's (which recordings.log deems "capture source 1"), and the 2nd is scheduled on the analog source (which is deemed as "capture source 4").

However, when scheduling a recording that is on a cable channel, recordings.log says it's scheduled on "capture source 1." I haven't debugged enough to figure out how this entry will ACTUALLY get recorded.

I guess my questions are:

1) How do you determine what capture source 1,2,4, etc actually are?
2) When a conflict occurs, how does CDK pick from the remaining tuners? Right now it's picking a tuner that is not only lower in the config list, but also does not have the applicable channel enabled.

Any advice appreciated! Thanks

1. This is retrieved from the information stored in GBPVR's database, about the capture sources. The program guide also contains which capture source a particular program resides.

2. If you have multiple capture sources, CDK should check to see which capture source the program is on, and then check that capture source to see if it is available. If it isn't and the program is available on another capture source it should try and schedule it on that first available capture source that has that particular program. If it can't schedule it, then it puts it into conflict status.

The second step is dependent on you not specifying a capture source for the recordings. If a capture source is specified for a recording, it will always try to schedule a recording on that particular capture source regardless if another capture source is available. You can check your PriorityRecordings.xml file and see if any of the CaptureSource elements are specified for the recordings you are having problems with. If they are you can either delete those elements or set them to 0. As always make a backup copy of the file before you edit it manually.

If it isn't available on the first capture source, and there are 2 remaining sources with the program available, how does it decide which of the 2 remaining ones to use?

It takes the first available one.

The source code is also available on Sourceforge for anybody to look at and modify.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdkandxsuite/

Feel free to look it over and if you find a bug or need a feature, submit a patch to either Ton, Fla, Jrock, Jorm, or myself.

Ton and Fla are more active on this than I am now.
