Hi, I only found one other thread relating to sky+, and it didn't cover what I am after.

I bought a MVP last year, and it has served me well, using GBPVR. But I'm looking to go a liitle bit further.

I have sky+, and like it. It costs, but it does it job well. What I am after is a way of using GBPVR on a dedicated pc under the telly, to do a number of things, but I do not need the tuning fucntions, just the following -

1. To recieve dumps from the sky+ via the sky+ "copy" function.

2. To play downloaded content from the net, in whatever codecs. (this is where the MVP started to frustrate me, with the slowness of polling the serving pc in non-mpeg 2 streams)

3. To Archive those dumps from sky+ onto DVD.

What will I need? I have been looking at a pvr150, but this is new ground. I understand the pvr150 should be able to recieve output from the sky+ box, but what about outputting the content on the pc? Does this go from the Graphics Card? I have a 9700pro and an old Geforce ti4200 lying around. Will they suffice?

As for the hardware, I have enough bits to build a 2.4 P4 pc, with 1 gig ram.

GBPVR is fine for my needs,as the level of thirdparty support via plugins, wiki and these forums are great. Just unsure as to the hardware requirements.

Ta.

My opinion.
I suspect GBPVR is the wrong tool for the job. For recording it is driven by the EPG - this gives timing, filenames, program description etc. You would be recording just video with no program information available at all.

A PVR150 would do what you want for recording as would the Hauppauge supplied software. I found s-video out was reasonably good from a PC to a TV, but I'm back to an MVP and pc in the shack now.
