I'm still trying to get things working great, but I'm definitely making progress.

it appears when I recoird HTDV, everything works, looks, plays back great. I haven't watched entire HDTV shows (yet) but so far what I've seen looks good.

Live playback is where things go downhill. I switched to Overlay mode tonight, and things seem to be far less jittery, it seems now Im' getting almost all the frames displaying.

How do I know which one is the right one for me to use, and is there anything I can do to complete the process of fine tuning?

i think the only way you will know which one to use ie overlay, vmr7, vmr9 is by the amount of issues you have with each one - ie for me if i choose overlay my cpu usage sky rockets and doesnt work so well - cant remmeber what vmr7 does but vmr9 works great

not sure if that is of any use to you but im still learning about my htpc aswell.

cheers

Well that's easy enough, because if I use anything BUT overlay, my CPU skyrockets, especially when watching HDTV
