I have been working on something very similar to this recently, but haven't had a chance to get back and finish it yet.
The plugin i'm working on would issue a pop-up when watching live tv asking if you wanted to change channels to the show you set a reminder for.
Hopefully I will have a chance to finish this off soon.

This is EXACTLY what I wanted.
Will this require also a guide-replacement-plugin? cause I am on a fresh install, no plugins/skins (except the weather plugin).

Actually - regarding this, and relating to something else I had recently experienced (being "thrown" out of TV viewing for a recording to start) - you could take it further:
Scenario 1 - reminder only
At the time of the show (maybe X configurarble minutes before?) a pop comes - "You scheduled to watch Lost on channel 51. Would you like to tune to that channel?"
* "yes"
* "no"

Scenario 2 - recording scheduled
At the time before the recording should start, a similar popup:
"You scheduled to record Lost on channel 51. Would you like to:"
* "Start record and exit Live TV" (this may depend on number of tuners)
* "Watch Lost now"
* "Cancel recording"

I have asked the creator of the TVListings plugin (alibert) to add some functionality for me to his plugin. He has agreed, so once we get some details smoothed out we should have it integrated.

What my plugin will do is pop up a box during tv/recording viewing that will say something along the lines of "Some show is starting. Would you like to switch to this show?" with a yes or no button selection. If no button is selected after a user specified time then nothing will happen.
