Sub,
Would it be possible to add an additional button on the Main Menu screen. Whether it is visible or not could be controlled by a check box in the configurator. If the button is visible, when you click on it, it would pass control to a web address on the server. My use would be for a Home Automation Browser. With the browser running I could check status of things in the house and control such things as lights, HVAC, ... Hopefully, this could be made to work from the MediaMVP client as well as the PC client. This way GB-PVR could be the GUI for everything in the house.

Thanks,

Bryan

A couple of option for you do exist:

- I do intend to release a SDK of sorts to allow people to write there own menu tasks. Someone may write one that does some of this home automation stuff.

- The current custom tasks could be used to run 'command line driven' programs which your required task. You wouldn't get any visual feedback, but it could do the job for you. e.g. you could add a task called 'Lights Off', which runs some program that turns off your lights (then exits). You wouldn't see anything special on the MVP, but the lights would go out.

Sub,
The HA browser is already written. You start it by going to "http://localhost/sysserver/" in IE. Its GUI would come up and you could do whatever you want. Then when you exit, you would go back to the GBPVR Main Menu. Maybe, what I need is just away to run and see a IE session from the Main Menu.

I doubt it is going to happen - sorry.

That said, someone may write a menutask that allows you to launch and see other applications. Doesn't sound very easy though. You'd stuggle to get the MVP remote to interact with IE.
