I have spent a considerable amount of time searching the forums and want to make sure I understand the current state of QAM support in GB-PVR. Is the Autumnwave On Air GT the only tuner with QAM decoding available in GB-PVR itself?

This seems to be what I have found, but I wanted to confirm before I bought. I was originally going to purchase the DVICO Fusion cards, but now I'm looking at the On Air GT.
Thanks

Yes, though some people are also apparently using the HDHomeRun device with the addition of the external recorder plugin.

The DVICO devices dont support QAM by their BDA drivers, and fall back to using their proprietary WDM drivers.

DVICO had offered to let me know how to do this with their WDM drivers for an obscene amount of money - no way...

Thanks Sub,
Love the software and can't wait to install the latest version when I get my computer back up and running (apparently my ancient harddrive on my pvr didn't survive the most recent move).

Finally moving to HDTV, can't wait to see how GB-PVR handles it.

Long time viewer/user - recent hd convert and new poster. Great job on a phenomenal development job BTW.

So, for me and those others lucky ones stuck in a hole with 10% reception of the closest tower and static all around - did some scouring on msdn for qam tunign options.

Am I reading wrong or is there support for QAM now with the bda driver set? I would love to tap the 4 major (us) networks that i get so well in unencrypted hd. Havinggotten used to skipping commercials- it hurts to have to sit through them - just to enjoy my HD.

Thanks again for the phenomenal project that this is.

cheers.

Unfortunately that QAM stuff only applies to DVB-C.

As I mentioned above, Autumnwave On Air GT is an option, as is the HDHomeRun.

ahh gotcha..

oh is the autumnwave GT a sure thing with qam decoding - the threads I read seemed to indicate some ambiguity - but if that's the case - then that's the trick i need.

many thanks.

Yeah as far as I know people are successfully using the Autumnwave OnAir GT USB for doing unencrypted QAM recordings.

Not much help on the Qam decoding but ATI has a usb tuner coming out that can accept cable cards. Not sure how it would work in gb-pvr, thats a question for sub.

ATI also announced the same devices at CES last year, but nothing ever came of those.
