I used GB-PVR on my windows 2003 server with a blackbird card installed primarily for recording shows. Everything runs extremely smooth! Here's one improvement that I'd like to see. Basically I need a more flexible interface of choosing which show to record. After opening the .mdb file, I think programatically it is very easy to do, just some sql selects. For example, user can specify he wants to record all "Fraiser" on Fox this week.

I'm new to GBPVR, however I want to contribute. I'm familiar with C#. Is it easy to do a plugin for this function?

The one example you've given is somthing that you can do already. You can find Fraiser on Fox in the TV Guide, then select "record season" which will record all programmes with the same name, on the same channel (effectively all episodes of frasier on fox).

Do you have any other examples of the sorts of things you'd like to be able to do? I am working on this sort of thing for the next release.

sub, I can't find where is the 'record season' option. Do I have to click the first episode in the season for that function to work?

As for other examples, as I'm a programmer and use gbpvr on computer (not on TV), for me, I'd say a more flexible view of recording. E.g. an easy way to find out:

1. what I'm recording in next 3 days?
2. following the above question, when would it be a good time for me to reboot my machine, if I need? In other word, choose a rebooting time when not show is been recorded.
3. give me an estimate of when my hard disk will run out, given current schedule of recording. I'll then burn shows to DVD for backup.
4. I want to record Fraiser this month on Fox (not necessary a season, e.g. I'm out this month).

SUB, a little off topic. I'm fairly new to this whole TV-watching-on-computer-and-burn-to-dvd thing. I read some article on DirectShow and actually downloaded a program called GraphEdit that comes with DirectX SDK. This tool is just terrific, you can literally do anything! You can manually manipulate filters to archive desired effect, from play mp3 file, to capture TV show and then compress using certain encoder with sub-title on. I'm wondering whether you have experience in this and maybe you can give me some direction as where to find out more. E.g. whether there is a programmable component for the graphedit. On MS site, it says graphedit's source code is not available and use private format for storing the direct-shwo graph, so my guess is there's not such component.

Look at the microsoft directx SDK, which contains examples for using directshow filters in your applications. This is what GB-PVR does.
