Problem with aspect ratio

Gbpvr will only display widescreen on my PC, is there any way of changing this, as the picture is very distorted.
Using windows XP
Nvidia GEforce FX 5200 video card
Pinnacle PCTV 310i TV card

there's a ratio select box on the first tab in config that can be set to normal or wide screen, and F7 changes aspect ratio of playing video so either could be just set wrong.
also maybe check the graphics card settings, and also that your TV isn't set to stretch the picture.

What video decoder are you using? Some try to maintain the aspect ratio themselves, and get it wrong. For example, with the nvidia decoder you need to go into the settings and change to the 'anamorphic' aspect ratio setting, which allows GB-PVR to maintain the aspect ratio.
