OK, I have downloaded and configured GBPVR and want to control coolsat 5000 sat receiver with the ir blaster that came with my 150 (MCE version with MCE remote and usb beanbag(shows up as ehome ir device in device manager)). Everything is working like a charm, I have live TV, music, etc. However, I am really stuck on blasting to the receiver. I have read many, many posts and while the forum and wiki is a wealth of knowledge, it can be overwhelming to newbies. Is the beanbag I got with my 150(MCE version) happauge hardware or microsoft? Will installing IR Blaster setup program from the happauge site work? I should note that the remote and blaster works fine in MCE with the coolsat, so the hardware is working. The remote works fine in navigating GBPVR menus, just can't blast either by changing the channel on the remote or with the mouse on the menu.

I just don't understand the relationship between GBPVR, the 150mce and the blaster. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the 150mce version with mce remote and beanbag blaster http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/...cekit.html

The only problem I am having is changing channels on my STB. The MCE remote can navigate the GBPVR menus no problem. I don't think my channel changing problem is anything to do with the remote, but rather the blaster. Even the "on screen" channel up/down buttons will change the channel on GBPVR, but nothing will get blasted. So, to summarize, the MCE remote and IR receiver is receiving input and controlling GBPVR, but somewhere along the line there is no communication to the blaster and the STB. Do I need different drivers for the blaster instead of the windows drivers? I should add that windows MCE works and channels get blasted no problem, but I want to use GBPVR. Help!
To be honest, I've never tested this type of remote's IR Blaster, so I have no ideas if it works or not. In theory you're supposed to set your capture source channel changer to the 'MCE2005 Ir Blaster' option, and then learn the keys from your original remote, but I've only used other MCE receiver/blaster units to test this. If it doesnt work for you, you'll need to look into using HIP for this (via the .exe channel changer and hipsend.exe).

In future, please post this sort of question on the forum, so that others can help answer and can benefit from the answer.

Cheers.

Did post this question on the forum, but there was no response. PS how do you "learn the keys from your original remote" in the GBPVR config?

When you've got you capture source set to 'mce2005 ir blaster' then you should be able to click the 'settings button' next to it. Then click the 'new' button and follow the prompts.

Oh ya, I've done that. I get the screen where it says "follow the promts", it says it is "waiting", another message come on for a split second, back to "waiting" and then it says "learning complete!", all without pressing a button on any remote.

Assuming you dont have lots of ambient IR light in your room (florescent lights, plasma TV etc), then it probably means GB-PVR built blaster support doesnt work with that remote and you'll need to look at alternatives like HIP for controlling your IR blaster.
