Hi all

It’s been great 1 week of using GBpvr. Wiki and forum is wealth of information but it’s getting overwhelming reading through all the information so I decided to ask for support.

I gave beyond media and Sage TV a chance. Beyond TV went out of the door as it dose not have media center. Sage TV is good but after process is complicated and took me lot of time to figure out which codec plug-in and utility to use foe cleaning and re-encoding shows in avi format while keeping them showing up with full info and in recorded show profile.

Here is my setup

Core: Core™2 Duo Processor E6300 @ 1.86GHz, 1066MHz FSB | Chipset Intel® P965 (Viiv™Wink
Memory: 2GB dual-channel DDR2 (2 x 1024MB), 533Mhz (PC4200)
Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® 7300LE with TurboCache 256 MB | Sharp aquos 37”
Tuner: PVR 150 (recording basic analog cable) |plan to add 2 PVR 500 MCE
Storage: 320GB SATA II (7200rpm, 8MB cache)
Audio: Creative Audigy 2 ZS | Logitech Z-5500
OS: Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 with Sp2 roll up

GB Pvr v0.99.5, with comskip, comcut; Media themes from Tipstr

Here is the question

1) After installing comcutt I get mpeg file which replaces my original recording with commercial clean mpeg file. When played in GB Pvr on TV it displays the Episode information. Now I want to compact this file to high compression avi while keeping the episode information intact. Is there any way to do that? And is it automated like comcutt.

2) What is zProcess will it do what I want or it’s only for MVP

Thanks in advance. and sorry for long thread i just want to put as much information as i canBig Grin

Have you tried using the transcode option in the video menu of GB PVR, you will need to add your recordings directory in the list in the config. I haven't got around to transcoding myself as I had some issues (its next) but from what I understand, If you transcode (and these settings can be changed in the config) then delete the mpeg. In the recordings section it will use the avi.
But I must say again I have not done this so either someone will correct me or you can experiment to find out (Record a small section of a show to see!)

GB-PVR stores its show information in its database. If you recompress a file to a .avi file, but keep the name same (other than file extension), then it should automatically pickup that you've done this. ie, if test001.mpg is transcoded to test001.avi, then GB-PVR will continue to show the recording information.

But if you move the file to another location, then the database purges itself of the episode's information...

Thats correct, he'd need to transcode in to the same directory.
