sub Wrote:It doesnt really work like that. There isnt really any (consumer) digital devices that record from the output of a set top box (the devices have no DVI or HDMI inputs, usually just a coax or antenna socket). The capture card tunes the original signal and the software does the remuxing etc.

Hi Sub
dont remeber if this has been mentioned here but there are a card
that is ment to be for HD Video editing that has HDMI in and out

Maybe this can be used with STBs and external HD DVD/BlueRay players

I'm aware of that device, but its not a consumer device, and wont record protected content like you'd get from a cable box or HD-DVD/BluRay players - so next to useless really.

A buddy of mine told me he was able to connect the component outs of the STB to a stand alone DVD burner (or is that DVR). What other cards with component inputs would work with GB-PVR?

Yeah, I think there is a few DVD recorders that do this, but they'll only understand normal interlaced 720x480 or 720x576 video coming in over those component inputs, not any high definition video - and they wont downscale high def stuff.

I'm not aware of any consumer capture devices with component inputs that allow you to record high definition video (regardless of GB-PVR support).
