Why do I sometimes get a Todays Posts in the menu and sometimes it is New Posts? What makes it change. For example, when I opened the forum today, it said Todays Posts. When I went to post this question, I got prompted to log in - THEN it said New Posts.

Yes, "New posts" are in fact "New posts since you last were here", which vBulletin seems to store in its database and not in a cookie, which means that you need to login before vBulletin knows who you are.

I automatically login when using my home computer and read all the "new posts". One post interested me and I set about installing new drivers which involved a reboot. When I wanted to reply to the post, the original post was no longer a "new post" and I hadn't checked where the post was listed.
If this happens to you, logout, and then you will get a display of today's posts so you can find the post that you want to reply to, login, and then reply.
