Is it my imagination or has the Forum search facility gone astray?

What does astray mean? Anyhow, it works from my part of the world...

Sorry about the English - to "go astray" means to "go missing". The word "astray" is derived from the verb "to stray" meaning "to wander".

The search facilty wasn't working from the UK for about 30 minutes. It appears to be back now. Symptoms were that the browser went into "web site not there" messages

I was a bit too lazy, I could have looked it up. And when you explain it, I think I really ought to have known it And you don't have to excuse yourself for using English - it *is* an English speaking (writing?) forum

I spent a lot of my working life with people whose first language was not English. I am full of admiration for them being able to conduct themselves so professionally when they had the added burden of having to speak English. I tried hard to make my language less complicated. I was just a bit annoyed with myself.

Anyway, still getting the odd failure to search. It is strange that this is only happening on search and not "new posts" or anything else. And it is now intermittent.
