The reason I couldn't watch in-progress recordings was because of the storage balancing grabbing the files that were still recording and moving them across the disks. So, you might want to try recording to a non-pooling disk and then backing them up onto the pool once they've finished.

Well.. i`m happy with WHS at the moment... the MediaMVP works fine, i`m not using my tv-card right now. This two software together are very cool `cause i have other machine which i was building to install WHS on it but i don't have spaces in the new house now so........ GB-PVR+WHS !!

I have a movie harddrive and other drive where i plan to put the Recordins and LiveTV and is used by Zprocess to put the transcoding temp file..

Thats all for now.... Big Grin

I've been using WHS for a while now with GBPVR and have had no issues. The odd freeze here and there, but I chalk that up to my AMD 3000+ with just a gig of ram. The specs running like XP and GBPVR would have been fine, but WHS understandably uses more resources.

Can anyone provide an update on whether it is possible to write recordings to a pooled drive without issues? Is it possible to delay the balancing feature?

Thanks,

I understand from a post on the AVS Forums HTPC board that WHS Power Pack 1 (PP1) handles writing files to the pooled array a little differently.

Whereas before it would cache to ram and then when that was full, proceed to distribute the file to the main landing zone and the backup location, now it goes straight to the destination and backup happens later.

Here's the thread on AVS.

This should make writing to WHS and watching the same in-progress recording go smoothly. Can anyone running WHS PP1 confirm this? If/when I get a storage server up and running I'll report my own experiences.

sub Wrote:Windows is returning that VMR9 is not supported.

Maybe need to install DirectX9, or switch to Overlay.

I've found that the solution to this is to ensure that "Hardware Acceleration" is set to FULL in your Video Adapter settings. Server 2003 wasn't designed for high-intensity graphics, so it isn't set to full by default.
