This may not exactly be a problem for the majority of GBPVR users, still....

GBPVR v99.5 w/ ML2 5.4

I have a rather large classical music collection. It is quite cleanly tagged with id3 v3v2.3 (mp3tag v2.37a).

Some filenames (and tags) include german umlauts (ä, ö, ü). While the individual files/their respective tags can be browsed and played with either MusicPlayer or ML2, playlists containing these filenames with umlauts appear empty. The playlist itself shows up, but no files are loaded nor can they be played.

I have attached two sample playlists for information. The original playlists is one of those that does not work. The saved playlists is an export from ML2. It plays in ML2, but nowhere else. It is empty when loading it in mp3tag and it doesn't play in winamp because the umlauts in the filenames are corrupt.

Secondly. I have the " ' "-problem that has been described elsewhere, too.

Any chance of getting this fixed?

Thanks

I just figured this out yesterday... I am having the same problem.

Songs with apostrophe characters always show up.

Album Titles with apostrophes do not show the songs. But if I look at the artist, the songs from that album do show up.

Same thing happens when I have an artist with an apostrophe. It doesn't show any songs by artist view, but if I look at that artists's album all the songs are there.

Problem 2 - Sometimes the stop key on my (harmony) remote doesn't stop ML2, it starts playing the song in slow motion. I think this always happens when I use stop in the main menu screen.

Problem 3 - Can I set the order of the blue button screens? I want it default to Album/Artist, then Artist/Album, then Genre/Album, then Genre/Artist. The default Artist/Album entry in the config can't be removed so I can't set the order the way I want. Can this be changed in a config file?

Thanks for any advice.

I may already have an answer for the ' problem, for 5.4 version I removed my database parameter calls, this has the negative effect of causing these sorts of problems. I'll have to look more at the non english characters and accents (a user had problems with Hebrew characters as well) - I reconfigured a machine to use hebrew and still couldn't get it to sort it's self so It's hard for me to diagnose and fix.

|)uffman - your second problem sounds like a windows media audio problem - do you have UseWindowsMediaForAudio set to true in your config.xml file?

And your third - I thought I allowed you to delete album/artist as well and figured they would be ordered in the order you add them....failing that yes you could go into the config file and manually change them - I'll have a look as to why the order is screwed up.

I would be happy to help you test. I have at least 1000 songs that aren't working properly and would rather not begin a tedious renaming project. I haven't even explored the japanese/german albums I have ... I'll look for other characters that don't work. Apostrophes ( ' ) are ok in the folder names BTW, just not in the mp3 tags.

Yes. And it has gone away now after a fresh build. It happens in the default music player too. Both are intermittent... and I can't figure out how to trigger it.

Thanks I found this yesterday. In config.xml I under <musiclibrary2> I changed the order and also had to set the <layout0> view as the default view in config.exe

Thanks for your advice!
