99.12 implemented dvd chapter skip as an option but once you enable it, you lose all of the other skip functions.
It would be nice if another two remote keys could be assigned to +- chapter skip and leave all the other skip functions intact. One user suggested the +- channel buttons which seemed like a good idea.

I havent tried it really, so this is more out of curiousity

but with chapter skipping it doesnt allow you to "FF" or "RW" (>>) and (<<) as opposed to the skip buttons (>|) and (|<) ? so you cant do the 10 second skips?

What exactly have you lost? You should still be able type a number of minutes and press skip. All you've lost is the default skip keys will do 'by chapter' instead of 'by minute'

All of the normal skip functions now map to chapter skip.
>> and >| skipped one chapter forward.
<< and |< skipped one chapter back.

Direct time entry was basically ignored and just took the final >| or <| and skipped one in the appropriate direction.

I ended up turning off the chapter skip option, so I could have the skip functions back.

Ah, right you are.

It wasnt supposed to do this. I'll fix it for the next release.

You can't type in the number of minutes and hit skip. It just goes one chapter and ignores the minutes.

I really like the idea of chapter skip, but I think ideally it wouldn't replace the skip functions, it would supplement them. If there was a way to use a different set of remote buttons (like channel up/down) I think it would add a bit of functionality.
At any rate, I appreciate all of the work that you do. It's a great program. The only problem that I have with it, is getting the kids to stop watching all the shows they record and do their homework!

The attached patch should correct the issue. Pressing skip forward/back should jump to the next chapter in the specified directory. FF/RW should work again. You can type a chapter number and press enter to go directly to that chapter.

I havnt tested it myself, but thats the theory.

It works exactly as you said.

>| goes forward a chapter
|< back a chapter
> FF
< RW
xx >| forward xx minutes
xx |< back xx minutes
xx OK skip to chapter xx

where xx is entered on the numeric pad.

Thanks Sub, Works great.
I still hate giving up on the 1 minute skip but it's definitely a worthwhile trade-off now.
