Mister Slimm...
I been dealing with this for a while now and I figured I would throw out some examples and suggestions. They all have to do with the automatic service restart feature of Slimm GB-PVR. Don't get me wrong, it's a great feature especially if you have problems with the service crashing and I wouldn't remove it at all. Usually I end up closing Slimm GB-PVR and reopening when I'm done working (if I remember Rolleyes).

Two issues I commonly run into because I constantly love to tweak GB-PVR:
1. I launch the Config app, I make some changes and click OK. The Config app then restarts the recording service. About one out of every two times Slimm GB-PVR mistakes this for a service crash and restarts the recording service a second time. That's when I get the Tuner Status Warning and it says 'automatic action taken: the recording service has been restarted.'

Is there some way to disable the automatic restart when launching the Config app from the Tools menu and then enable it maybe 15-30 seconds after the Config app closes?

2. Similarly, I often stop the recording service to add/upgrade a plugin. I forget the tray app will see the recording service has stopped and restart it.

Possibly maybe adding an option to the Tools menu that stops the recording service and disables the auto restart allowing me to work and then I click a start service option? Or add a tray configuration option to disregard service crashes (again knowing me I would forget to re-enable it)?

Got any ideas or thoughts on this? or should I just live with it?

Thanks again for the great addon!

Yeah, this is an irritant for me too. I have been meaning to do something about this but just haven't. However, I believe, the service isn't started twice. If that's any consolation.

This scenario hadn't occurred to me.

You can permanently disable the auto-restart feature using the registry. Instructions are included in the installed documentation under Tray Utility/Registry.

I have added this to my To Do list. Thanks.

Yep, I just confirmed with the Event Viewer and the service was only stopped and started once.

It happens when I go into Services, and click Stop on the recording service. Slimm GB-PVR comes up with the Tuner Status Warning where it says the service has been restarted. I refresh the Services list and the GB-PVR Recording Service has indeed been started.

Just throwing the scenario out there.

Thank you.
