Love GBPVR... it is incredibly powerful, but I have a couple of questions concering the guide (I'm using Zap2It in America).

When I record a show, the default is 1 minute pre-padding and 2 minutes post-padding. However, if I am recording 2 shows at 8 and 2 more at 9 on different channels, I'm obviously going to run into a problem.

First of all, I would expect the recordings to be 1 hour and 3 minutes long... yet they seem to only be between 58 and 59 minutes long and I miss the end of my show. Furthermore, because the padding runs into the next set recording, there is a conflict for a few minutes where it is trying to record 4 things. i'm not exactly sure what the result was, but when I tried to record 2 back to back 1 hour shows, all with 1 minute pre and 2 minutes post padding, I ended up with 2 files that were 58-59 minutes long (the early shows) where the end was cut off, and the later 2 shows did not record at all.

Would setting the pre- and post- padding to 0 take care of this? Is there any other workaround?

Padding is considered "optional" and only applied if the tuner is not scheduled to be in use for another recording. So if you have two recordings scheduled, one from 8pm-9pm, the next from 9pm-10pm, both with 1 minute pre-padding and 2 minutes post padding, then the first recording will start at 7:59. It'll stop at 9pm as the new recording starts. This second recording will end at 10:02pm.

At 9pm, post-padding is not applied to the first recordings, and pre-padding is not applied to the second recording.

in this case, do you have any idea why i ended up with files that were 0kb?

last night i recorded 2 shows on the same channel (NBC, law and order followed by las vegas). for what it's worth there was 1 minute pre and 2 minutes post padding though from the way it sounds, that's irrelevant because the post-padding wouldn't be applied if it was going to run into another recording. while law and order recorded fine, the show following (las vegas, on the same channel) did not record. it obviously tried to, but it was a 0kb file.

Nothing springs to mind, but if you zip and attach the logs then I'll take a look.

Unfortunately your logs dont go back that far.

You'll need to have a go a reproducing the error, then posting the logs again.

alright. might be a day or two before i get around to it. for now, i have changed pre/post padding to 0 and everything seems to be working fine, but i'll keep testing it if no padding causes my shows to miss the very beginning or very end.

thanks for the help.

one last question... i know the youtube plugin is still pretty buggy, but i had a question about it anyway Smile seems to work just about perfectly for me within GBpvr... however when I go into the My Videos directory and try to play the downloaded file in WMP (which is my default .mpg player...) it plays the video fine but there is no sound. very odd problem. when i try to play it in GBPVR from the video library folder, i get the same thing. however, when i initially download the file and play it, it plays with sound.

if i were guessing i would think there is some sort of bug in the saving of the audio track (but not the video?) off of youtube. it is one of the strangest errors i've encountered in gbpvr. not really significant since it's just a plugin, but it would be a cool one to fix. automatically saving all my youtube downloads is really neat.

It wont be anything to do with the padding.

Is the audio there when you first play/download it from the youtube plugin? If so, then that audio will still be there when you try play it from the video library or my video it'll still have the audio, and is most likely just a problem with the audio decoder you're using. Some of them dont like the low bitrate audio used on some youtube videos.
