Here's a few that come to mind since I've started using GB-PVR exclsively:

1. OSD to show the numbers your pressing when changing channels.

2. A message telling you that recording is about to happen, or more importantly, recording is in progress. Right now, the video just freezes when a recording starts. Also it would be nice if it went back to live TV after the recording is complete rather than leaving the last frozen frame from before recording.

3. Yeah yeah, I know you've heard it- the ability to watch what'd being recorded. Wink Thats what SBE is for after all. Wink

4. TV-friendly fonts. Yeah this is more for skinners I guess. I'm not in the least bit creative enough to go into the skins department. But some info about tv-friendly fonts are here:
http://www.typographer.org/ On my TV, the fonts in GB-PVR tend to have issues. Yellow bleeding mainly around the edges makes it really hard to read.

5. I have my GB-PVR set to record all episodes of 'Family Guy' on Cartoon Network, but they play the same episode twice each night. I think dupe-checking would be really cool. If an episode is already recorded, no need to record it again.

Thanks for a great program,
Jake

3) I dont want to use SBE for this. I want to use native MPEG2 files so that its compatible with the MVP and XCard.

4) I'll leave that for others that want to make their own skins.

5) I have no way to tell one episode of 'Family Guy' is different from another episode of the 'Family Guy'. In the last release I did introduce timeslot season records, which would solve this for most occurrences. It records all episodes on a given channel, in a given +/- 2hr window that will eliminate most duplicates. Only zap2it gives me information that identfies individual episodes. I have to aim for the lowest common denominator for the EPG information I have, which could come from XMLTV, Zap2it or BLEB.

Sorry, some days I just cant be arsed responding to everything....

Sub, in my xmltv file I have entries like this:

<episode-num system="all_seasons">15</episode-num>

can't that be used to indentify the shows? or maybe it's not avalible in all xmltv files?

oh, okay, hopefully they'll implement that info in all feeds at some point.

Ahh. good point.  That is a tradeoff.  Then I'd suggest (#2) that when a recording starts, it jumps back to the menu so that the last frame of live tv isn't left frozen on the screen.  Perhaps a recording indicator on the main menu as well.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi,
Just a thought with this, I was playing last night, and you can watch a program whilst it is being recorded, from the recording menu.

Would it be possible, if you are watching live TV, to jump to the MPG2 file, a couple of seconds after the recording has started. You could display a message 'Please Wait Recording Starting'

Maybe daft, I was playing around with trying to change the text that pops up when you go to live TV whilst a recording was in progress, but this seems a similar issue.

Cheers

Mark
