i am newbie to GBPVR - i must say this software is amazing and kudos to the developer(s).

i have one thing to say - the software is very slow on channel change. the documentation clearly says that it records to HDD and ... and so it is poor in using to watch live TV, but still i think the performance could be improved. i have tried GotTV and it also does the same recording to HDD, however it is pretty fast on channel changes. so is there anything that could be done to improve performance? thanks.

How long is it taking for you? On most of the configurations I try (XCard, PVR350, SBE) it takes about 2 - 2.5 seconds. Add about another 1.5 seconds if you're using an external tuner with IR Blaster. If you're using VMR/Overlay it can take a bit longer if SBE is not being, because some of the (3rd party) components wont start playing until about 4mb of data is available.

I dont really ever anticipate the channel change will get much below about two seconds, because the compression going on inside the PVR250 takes about a second by itself. It also takes a small hit by having to take to a recording service which runs as another process, but gets the benefit of the UI not having to be running all the time.

thank you for your reply.

yes, initially it takes about 2 seconds for channel change. however, if i watch a channel for about 10 mins, then do a channel + ro -, then it takes about 10 seconds. it appears the longer i am watch a channel the longer time it takes to change to another channel. however, once the channel is changed, if i change to another channel immediately, the second change is within 2 seconds. hence, my thinking that that the longer i watch a channel the longer it takes to change from that channel. can you tell me why this is happening?

my system is a dell 400SC with 2.4GHz HT CPU, ATI 9600 PRO graphics card and 2*120GB HDD. i have the CX23880/23416 TV/FM tuner card. thanks.
