I will be installing GB-PVR on my server very soon. I have been doing a lot of research and have a question about the EWA. The EWA is (among other things) used to remotely schedule recordings for GB-PVR. I know this can be done on any PC with an internet browser. Here is where I'm going to try to get tricky. I have a Snazzio 1310 network media player. It has its own built in browser. It isn't pretty, but usable. Do you think it would be able to connect to the EWA to schedule recordings? I already run Swisscenter on my server to stream video/audio/soon TV Wink to the Snazzio. It would be great it I could open up the EWA on the Snazzio and modify/schedule recordings. Who knows? Maybe I can get Swisscenter to call EWA....I'll start with baby steps Big Grin

I will and report back. If anyone else has tried connecting through a media player or through a media player's software, let me know. Thanks

I use TVersity to serve up to a DSM-320. I understand that support for the Snazzio was added recently.

UJB is currently playing around with RSS support that can be used via TVersity, but just pointing it to a network share of the recordings would work too. I am not sure how TVersity compairs to swisscenter.

You raised my curiousity and I checked out TVersity. It looks comparable to Swisscenter and seems to be a bit more actively supported. IMHO Swisscenter seems to be a bit behind in development, but it works flawlessly for me and I never have any problems connecting with my Snazzio 1310 or Buffalo LT. I'm the type who doesn't fix it unless it's broke. I just want to be able to connect to GB-PVR's EWA from Swisscenter. If not, I'll just have to pull out the laptop or run to the server or workstations to setup recordings.

Unless your Snazzio can browse web pages, I do not think you can access the EWA on it. TVersity (and probably Swisscenter; I haven't used it) can provide access to your GB-PVR recordings. I current just point TVersity to a network share of my recordings, but I have been looking to find a more data rich experience, so have been looking at the RSS feature of the EWA.

For managing recordings, I use the EWA through a web browser almost exclusively. I usually spend more time on the computer than the TV anyway.

I suppose that with some work, you might be able to rig up a system to manage recordings through the UPnP server. Some sort of virtual file system that used jpg images to trigger scheduling or cancelling recording of a particular show. If you really need that functionality at the TV, it might be worth it to find a MediaMVP for that function.

The Snazzio does display web pages, but it runs slow and doesn't display everything (probably flash, java, etc.). I finally installed gbpvr on my server today and got the EWA displayed from other PCs on the network. I'll try the Snazzio and see what happens.

I was unsuccessful with this. Since EWA need the /gbpvr at the end of the address, I couldn't get the Snazzio to connect. I guess I'll just have to use my laptop. Wink

As a matter of fact, you even need to specify the exact file (i.e. http://{your EWA server address}:{EWA port}/gbpvr/guide.aspx )to get it to work. But since you allready have displayed EWA on another computer you allready know this...
