I am having a problem where I will be listening to songs and while I am navigating through my artists/albums/songs all of a sudden the MVP will lock up. The playlist however will continue to play. Whne the next song comes on it will then "execute" some of the navigation clicks that I have done, then start playing the next song, and then lock up again. The same process is repeated when the next song starts again as well. I am not sure if this is a new problem for me or not since I have not used ML2 heavily in the past. I'm not sure if it matters but I have about 20,000 songs in my collection. I also have the "All" option turned off. I am running the latest version of GBPVR (+ a hot fix that I found from March that I thought might fix things) and ML2. My operating system is Windows Media Center. Any ideas?

Thanks

Possibly my problems are related to http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=dongle ?

Your post was about using the mvpmc dongle, you're not using that are you??

not sure how much I can help you there...it might just be the amount of time some of the db operations are taking with the collection size that you've got.

You could as a test use the collection settings when configuring ML2 to split up you music collection into smaller chunks (say 5000 songs) and see if you get better response out of that.. Maybe take a copy of your musiclibrary2.db3 then reconfigure to save time scanning a collection that size...

Actually I get a little confused with the dongle issue. How can I check what version I have...and what version should I be using?

Thanks

I suppose the one that comes with gbpvr it's only called dongle.bin.

I have found on my MVP the odd lock up when playing videos (I dont tend to use ML2 for music much on the mvp).

Do I have to tell it to use dongle.bin or something? The only reason I dont think my problem has to do with DB size is because it does seem to wake up when the next song starts playing again. Is there perhaps some database locking going on? Is there any way to open up the internals and look into this? I'll even buy you a case of beer for the source codeSmile

Database locking would show up as an error in the logs. The MVPs are quite hard to debug with since it can only rely on logging. Turn on the ML2 internal logging and it creates a special ML2 log file. That would show any errors. Then if you compare to the MVP-GBPVR.exe.log (god I'm glad sub has seperated those out now!!) that will show you any gbpvr/mvp errors.

If you're asking about how to change the dongle then I'm guessing you haven't changed from the defualt shipped with gbpvr...

Thanks for all of the quick replies. I'm out of town but will look more into the logs when I get back. I will also research a little more into what dongle I should use etc. There seems to be several posts about it that might be related to my problems. In addition to my locking, the system also crashes fairly regularly making the system unusable. This is odd since in much earlier versions this never happened.

I installed .NET 3.0 over the weekend and I think I am now getting much better results with GBPVR. I have been running the ML2 on Random for over 48 hours and it seems to be holding up. In addition, I installed the latest beta of Hauppauge and for the first time in a long time it actually worked. I think disabled the service and went back to GBPVR. Is everyone running .NET 3.0?

FYI - I'm really diggin' the random functionality in ML2. Now that I have been using it more I will post a few more suggestions on another thread. Thanks again!
