I need to buy an operating system and was wondering if there were any issues running gbpvr on XP MCE?

I am using GBPVR (pvr-150 & MVP) with XP MCE 2005 without difficulty.

if money is an issue, get the cheapest one you can live with (well cheapest professional OS) because all GB-PVR really needs is an OS to sit on top of, and most capture cards work on 2000-XP. unless you plan on using someof the other features of MCE.

Don't forget that you have to disable the MCE services, otherwise they interfere with GBPVR. It took me a while to figure that one out.
Main PVR: Dell E520 / XP MCE / 2.8GHZ Dual Core / 250GB+500GB / 1GB / HVR-1600 / GB-PVR 1.0.16

The only thing cheaper would be Vista home version. I can get MCE for $109 off of NewEgg or Vista Home for $99.00

Which is the better of 2 evils?

No.

This is the regular price for MCE:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6832116171

This is the regular price for Vista Home:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6832116196

I have an email coupon to get that version of Vista for 99.00
