I spend many of weekends during the summer up at my family's cabin. For the times that I am not out in the boat or working on something, I'd like to be able to catch up some of my recorded TV. I have no high speed internet up there, I have only a horrid dial up connection while I'm there so streaming via EWA is out of the question. Not to mention my CRAP charter cable modem at the house.

I will have no need for guide data as there is no tuner installed in the machine. I have a good idea of what I want to do, but would like some input to point out the holes in my plan.

I am going to install GB-PVR on my laptop and install my old remote wonder on it as well. I plan on "copying" MPEG files/comskip files over to a directory on my laptop so that they can be played on a TV via the S-Video out on my laptop controlled by the remote wonder.

As far as I can tell, I'm good so far in my planning except for ONE thing. I want to be able to access the recordings from the recording menu and not the video archive menu. This way I get show info etc... I think it can be done with the export recordings on the pvr and then import on the laptop, not sure.

Does anyone do this? Or have any pointers? Or am I just out of luck, and will need to access them via the Video Archive menu?

Thanks... I appreciate the help!

If your drive and directories are the same then yes, export from main machine and import to laptop will work directly. If drive/dirs are different then a little tweaking to the export file will be needed.

yeah what he said, if you have recordings in g:\recordings then make the same path on your laptop, then if you were really lazy you could probably just copy your gbpvr database to the laptop.
