Wonderful! I've grabbed the patch and will try it out tonight. Does this version send the mkv thru Trans2MVP.bat or does it do things differently?

The avi I created from the mkv didn't work, so I'm glad to have this route to try.

Last question: is there any way to make this play the attached subtitle stream in the MKV?

Thanks!
Jonathan

If it doesnt work on a vanilla v1.1.5 install, then try looking for a more recent pvrx2.exe patch (there are quite a few in various posts).

No it doesnt. The Trans2MVP.bat method was superseded about 18 months ago when I included built in support for using ffmpeg for doing the transcoding.

It'll use the <MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC> or <MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL> command line in config.xml to convert the .mkv file to an MPEG2 video.

Hmm. It is so frustrating that a lot of fansubbers are switching to MKV with their fansubs. But without the subtitles, I'm not going to get very far watching most of their stuff.

I guess I am back to trying to convert to avi and write the subtitles directly to the video.

Thank you for your help though. This is great software!
