Actually that was my attempt at writting a picture skin, I wrote a plugin that would allow you to set the background picture, but could not get it to update without restarting gbpvr.

Yeah, unfortunately thats not an easy change. Most of the screen and plugins load and cache their background the first time they need to display it.

no worries.  Was just something I wanted to try.  I wrote an abstract class called pim connector which can be overloaded to return data from any pim.  So if anyone else is ambitious!

If I had that kind of money I would buy you one of those PVR500 cards.

I send the plugin.  It bounced back (which happened a lot when I email from hotmail to gmail, most of the time they get it though) please let me know if you did not receive it.

One thought is to do OSD displays when a task or appointment is scheduled or if a new email is received.

Aren't they in the process of doing that now ?

I have my own mail server so never have to worry about mail access

So we found that programming with outlook 2003 is not so nice. Works great on outlook 2000. Outlook 2003 contains a security feature that prevents you from accessing its contents without getting permission from the user which last a maximum duration of 10 minutes. You can download the plugin on the wiki page called PIM.
