Hey, have to say that in your situation, I'd seriously look at the logitech harmony remotes.

Their online database of devices is extensive - if it has an IR remote, I can assure you that it will work with your device.

I currently have mine running my Onkyo 6.1 surround system, my Onkyo DVD player, my remote control light dimmer, my Infocus projector. Have not been able to find a "Wife Muter" but I'm sure they are working on that too.

When I want to watch a movie, I simply push the "Watch Movie" button. My receiver comes on and automatically sets itself to the correct setting, my projector comes on and my DVD player comes on. I start the movie. Hit the button to dim the lights and viola! ahhhhhh, life is good.

I will tell you that it will take you a bit of time working through all the programming and if you run into any snags the Logitech folks are very helpful. But once programmed it's a miracle device.

You don't have to buy the latest and greatest on the market, they all work basically the same way. Mine is a Harmony 659 which if you look around, you can find for as little as $70.00. Some have a rechargable battery, mine doesn't I just use AAA rechargables, but one set will last you several months.

When buying a MCE remote, make sure you buy a version with the colored buttons included.

The one that I got (model 1039) functions great with GB-pvr but does not have the colored buttons that many plugins use. This leads to messing with HIP or Eventghost and is frustrating.

Other then the colored buttons, my MCE remote (with usb receiver) worked right out of the box, no configuration necessary and it had the ability to "learn" to turn on and off my tv and control the tv volume.

Simplest solution is an MCE remote, but i have also been looking into a harmony remote. Seeing as it could basically control anything in your tv room without you getting off your butt makes it worth checking out.
