agerdin Wrote:excellent, one last question for now. Where would I need to go to find the eqvivialent of PCI\VEN_4444 for my usb2 device??? I have no idea where to start. Just thought if you know. Is it from device manager?

See mobos description below.
Code:
REM the entire identification of the PVR 350 was
REM in my case: PCI\VEN_4444&DEV_0803&SUBSYS_40000070& REV_01\3&61AAA01&0&70
REM However, the &-signs posed problems.
REM By using only PCI\VEN_4444, any pvr250's are probably restarted as well.

Thanks for your help

That would be in: devicemanager-.....for sound video and games-hauppauge usb%^$*-properties-details.

Thanks for your help. I got it all to work but it did not solve my problem. My PVR device still need a hard reboot (disconnect the power) to start responding to the remote. It was easy to find the device id, just use the "devcon findall" command. I actually also tried to restart all usb devices (devcon restart usb*) but with no success.

I guess the only remaining is to use ir.exe but I really like fact that I do not have any focus problem.

I think you can solve that by reading these threads:

Actually, as I have been testing this I have come to realize that my problem is worse. It is not related to the remote at all, but the fact that the USB device can not be restarted coming out of hibernate. That is, the pvr box is not working at all.

Back to the drawing board, now I am installing new drivers from Hauppauge.

Thanks again,

I have now updated the Hauppauge drivers and thought for a while that it helped since i hibernated several times. Unfortunatley, this is not the case since I found that if the GBPVR main app is running when system goes into hibernation, the Hauppauge hardware hangs when it wakes up and requires a hard reboot.

If GBPVR is not running I can just start it and it all works just fine.

Sub, is this anything you have heard about before. Let me know which logs you might need to analyse this problem.

Sorry, no - I dont know. Form the description, I'd have to guess its some bug in the Hauppauge drivers or supporting software.

Ok, fair enough. Is there any way you can shut down GBPVR (if its running) before hibernation and then have it restarted when the system comes back to life? (The restart is not that critical).

Thanks,

There is nothing built in that would do that. GB-PVR doesnt even know if a machine is hibernating. You might be able to roll you own solution though with a bit of glue and duct tape (bat files and other Windows tools).

If you have any programming experience you could write an autoit program that would run in the background and when it detects a standby request, kill gbpvr.

My autoit script restarts gbpvr, the recording service and ir.exe when the pc comes out of standby. It works well for me.
