Greetings

Looking at the Hauppauge 1600 models (1178 & 1101) I can't seem to determine the difference. The 1101 model has an extra coax connector (it appears).

I think the extra connector is for FM radio?

The difference is that the 1178 model is version V2.1 and 1101 model is only V2.0.

What this means for you, is that you want the 1178 model, because that is QAM compatible now, as you can see, here:

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure the version number is as important as the tuner model. I've got a V2.0 but my tuner is 74021 and it works with QAM. The 1101 on the web site shows tuner 74551 which doesn't support QAM.

I suppose the question becomes FM or QAM?

Can someone post if there is a difference in the connectors for the cable and ATSC antenna. I am wondering if I can simply connect my cable outlet to the ATSC connector for the QAM input.

Thats what you have to do, the QAM is delivered by cable. I've had the opposite problem trying to connect a UHF antenna to the 75 ohm coax to see how this works with the 2 ATSC signals I am supposed to get.

I guess to be clearer I'm wondering if the actual connectors on the card are the very same.

Usually cable coax and antenna coax is RG-6 or (the old stuff) RG-59 with F-type connectors. The easiest way to tell is to try to screw it on, if it works, then it's compatible.
