Background mask is only used on the main menu and is an "Overlay" image (the logo in the Community3 skin. It is full screen, transparent, with the image located in lower left corner). This is similar to what Old Dog used with Plain Jane.

As a "Work-around", this could be used as our difference in the Main Menu background vs. plugins. This mask image can be a non-transparent image drawn over the top of the background image.

Possible idea?

It should be an editable item.

The Icon_Play, ect are from legacy plugins (some showed an image during music playback, ect.). I never made alternative images for them really, so I would not make them changeable.

I like the idea of using the background mask to differ the main menu background. I've added your GB-PVR logo mask to the backgrounds resource folder so it could still be used to get the same effect as what was in your Cskin3 zip.

I'm a little confused about the required locations for the background image. Would the background.jpg file need to be copied to the coreimages AND the menu folder as PVRX2 uses menu/background.jpg and legacy plugins use coreimages/background.jpg?

I deleted the coreimage background file and all screens seem to work ok...?

How about using the images in SkinPlugin\OSDIcons ?

In coreimages is used for the legacy plugins. I could easily point to the menu folder instead.

This would be good so there could be 2 editable skin items:

Menu background - which points to menu/background mask.jpg
and
Background - which points to menu/background.jpg

Ok, will point to the menu folder then.

I am working through the legacy version of Video Archiver right now. It works differently than some of the other plugins skinning wise. Once I have it fleshed out I'll start previewing the companion legacy xml's.

I updated the conversion to have all the default UI stuff fixed, and legacy plugins xml's A-D (Video Archive is a plugin that starts with "A").

With some luck, others are fixed without me knowing.

After further testing of this.. Unless the image has transparency, it will totally mask everything in the main menu. I tried a different background as the mask and could not even see the buttons.

Shame, will take out the option of a main menu background and add a background mask.
