Thanks offrotor, I tried a few of your suggestions, until now none of them worked, but I will try again later (when I have more time) with some router firewall modifications. We'll see what happens.
Thanks alot for your help.

Router Firewall is most ALWAYS the problem why it wont work. Key is getting the broadcast subnet # right. in my own experiences, just picking port 9 and forwarding in to you IP of you PC, will not work. "Magic Packets" need to be broadcast to all IPs. Finding the right subnet can be tricky. It has alot to do with math witch I dont care to find out to even begin to understand. But, the Online calculators make it easy for trial an error. Most routers will allow you to change your LAN subnet, witch in turn will give you any possible broadcast.

If this helps. I have my LAN Subnet Mask set to 255.255.255.224
This gives me a Broadcast of 192.168.0.31

All I have is Port 9 forward on UDP to ip address of 192.168.0.31

Might seem (well it really is) confusing. but once you get it working.... Its Nice!

I got it working (more or less), found out that my router uses port 8 for the wol-packets, then I had to "link" the mac-address from the pc to a ip-adress, in the router, by telnetting something in the arp-table in the router. Turns out that that setting is flushed from the router's memory after a few minutes.:o
Maybe there is some "future" in your subnet mask tweaks. I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks anyway.

tipstir Wrote:Ouch! duh! I thought you had was using your own laptop.. We don't have the way you have there. You have to bring in your own laptop and get free wi-fi access. Say like a CAFE, Library (yeah I know they have PCs) Town Hall.

No din't take the laptop with me, although I think I will next time. Wifi is spreading out nicely. Just read that in Paris (Fr), they are starting a free wifi network, max 2hrs access a day, speed 8mbit. Sounds nice, I'm curious what will come of it. Will get the chance to try it out I guess as my daughter is going to Paris for a year.
