Best resolution for TV-Out

This is a nice topic. I have been wondering about this myself, but more about playing on the PC rather than TV out. My 19" LCD PC res is 1280x1024 IIRC. When you play PAL(I) on the PC, does it default to 720x576 or does it try to do some interpolation at a higher res?

Not sure for certain on your setup but I would have thought that the video will be rescaled to whatever you have set the screen res to.
So if your desktop is set to 1280 x 1024 then your video will be scaled up to this. Your PC graphics hardware will presumably do clever maths and interpolate etc to rescale the nominal approx 720 x 576 video up to 1280 x 1024.
