I have some DRM files that will only play through Media Player. I'm obviously piping to the MVP (since I'm in this section) and was trying to use the MVMPC dongle to connect.

I'm using On2Share, which is supposed to broadcast uPnP from Media Player.
When I go into FileSystem, to uPnp, I can't seem to see anything.

Do you have any info on this?

I've never used On2share, it sounded to tied to WMP for my liking. BrainStormer may be able to help he knows a lot more about UPnP then I do. The likelihood of playing DRM content wil be very low. UPnP support in mvpmc is really experimental, there just isn't enough memory in the current version to take it where I want.

To test UPnP I would suggest trying with Windows Media Connect or TVersity first. UPnP implies enabling a few services and opening firewall ports too so if you do want to play with it I suggest using something I know.

I installed TVersity.

As to the memory, I've opened up this thread:

I have always been underwhelmed by all the UPnP servers when I compare them to GBPVR, but good luck. I do have an TVersity optimized config file on my web site http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand.

It's easy for me to add logical memory to the MVP, I can create a dongle that has at least 2MB more free and plenty more available on a network swap. The problem is configuring it properly, it is so far from plug & play I gave up on thinking of recommending it. Again GBPVR as an option makes it redundant anyway.

K, let me look at that file.

The only reason I'm going this route, is to try to get DRM files played on the MVP. I was hoping a uPnP server would handle part of it, and just stream it out.

I expect a firewall or a missing service is getting in your way.

If that's the only reason I wouldn't bother.

DRM content on the MVP isn't likely. The MVP and server would have to support the DRM you're using. You wont find this in a device with open firmware due to licence restrictions.

The Various UPnP renderers that support DRM have some extra services to support the DRM.
