Is the wireless capability of the MVp good? I notice that my laptop can say connection strength is exellent, but the MVP shows 3 out of 5 bars and I get 3mb/s throughput when using filesystem throughput test. It can't keep up with MP2 datarate.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Greg

Seems ok to me - works where a pci card couldn't get a signal at all...

Can't check the signal at the mo as the Mrs is in bed with the mvp  (ok so wmvp is in the bedroom, next to the tv not in the bed - I hope)

I don't have a good setup because I don't have an antenna on my mvp, so I have to work near the wifi router.
I can get the signal strength into the -45 range though which is reasonable, but still the throughput test shows 5.1-5.3. With this setup, emulation mode doesn't run very well, so I use Filesytem mode, but I have always blamed that on the missing antenna.

There is no documentation or source for the drivers for the wireless card that is used so I have written off making any improvements at the network level, but I did try to get them for several months. I haven't found any tweaks that I could try either.

Note since you are talking about "bars", mvpmc has a wireless signal strength indicator on the main menu in the Settings option showing the number that Hauppauge show on their setup screen.

I tried a few more tests and still same. Throughput test using file over CIFS from linux and CIFS from Windows share both have 2mb/s. Signal strength in settings screen shows "58 - good".

That's about 40+ Feet from the nearest Wireless Access Point spanning 3 large rooms. When people come over they are amazed this is wireless wow! Yes it acts no different. Music and video/audio plays smoothly and does the remote up and down menus..

I've tested my laptop running client to stream Live TV from PVR-150 at the same time watching video MVP. Wow it workes again smoothly..

So what are you using for a bridge. I don't understand why companies don't make simple and cheap wireless/wired bridges for devices that do not have wireless. Closest thing are the gaming adapters, but they overprice those and I really don't see them around that much anymore. I was looking at wireless N for the better range and speed, but again, no bridges .
