I hope this is not a repeat or useless information, but I wanted to share my experience in setting up GBPVR with my legacy MVP this weekend.

I am an old time GB-PVR user and had left it for a while, but now have moved and desire to use it again. I was excited to see the 1.X level of the application, but have found that to not be a good choice when a MVP is in the mix.

I have found 1.0.16 and 1.0.8 to be borderline unusable when a MVP is the primary tool. I especially want to use the music playing and internet radio functionality, which I understand net radio is missing in 1.0.16 and maybe in 1.0.8.

Here is the process that provided the most joy...
1. Download and install the latest MVP software from Hauppage. I used the latest beta mediamvpsetup_33_25032.exe
2. Go to the services interface (Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Service)and stop, then set to manual the MVPMedia service. Leave the MVPMediaSvc alone.
3. Install GBPVR09912.msi, try ever so hard to resist the newer versions.
4. Place you pls files in the "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Net Radio" directory. Add a leading number to the beginning of the file name of pls files to enforce sequence. (Get pls file from http://www.shoutcast.com)
5. Edit the config.xml and set the MVPHeight to 420 (this is the height I found to look the best on my TV). BE SURE TO INLY USE NOTEPAD when editing  !
6. Do config gui edits then power cycle the MVP.

That's it. Smile

Hey Sub,
I noticed that any file deletes cause the install to re-run. I remember this happening back in 0.2x version, but though that was fixed later.

Anyone know if a firmware update to the MVP is available and if it provides any benefit?

what is your MVP issue? and what version fo the MVP do you have? I have been using mine since I started with GBPVR and really do not have much issues and only use the MVP's in my house. I do not use the Hauppage software at all and never found a reason to need it. I have been sticking with the dongle that GBPVR has come out.

I had a similar experience. Everything was working great, then I upgraded to 1.0.16 and my MVP was not usable. The WAF was at an all time low.

My MVP was plugged into a little 4 port Linksys switch, the switch into my broadband router and my GBPVR server into the broadband router. I tried setting the network to 100 full duplex on the GBPVR server, with no luck. I tried setting the priority of the recording service to a higher priority, with no luck. I tried the network tweak (offload processing to the NIC), with no luck.

I was about to re-install everything on another computer when I ran into a thread (can't find it now) on a SageTV forum talking about the same thing. They said that cheap network switches cause problems with the MVP. So, I pulled out a cheap 8 port hub and swapped it out for the switch and now the WAF is at an all time high! The MVP is working better than before.

1.0.16 works great for me on my MVP.

i may be wrong buti dont believe either mvp service should be running. if you wanna use netradio you can you need to edit the config file so that the old gbpvr loads on your mvp instead of pvrx2 the line says
<mvpserver>pvrx2.exe</mvpserver> just make it gbpvr.exe. as far as firmware maybe you wanna try out the mvpmc dongle.

you can use notepad to edit you XML files just make sure the "save as type" is set to "all files" and not "*.txt"
