I had a lot of confusion concerning the differences between the 3 terms "Channel Number", "Channel Name", and especially "Channel Source". I'm still not sure of the name's definition, but these 3 really need to be checked for accuracy and added to the WIKI. Particularly this and this page.

Channel Name: ??? Non-Editible field. You get what you've got, I guess.
Channel Source: The channel number that is read from your tuner.
Channel Number: Assign a channel to a number. This also changes it's Number and Sort Order within the TV Guide.

Thank You Smile

ADDED: Additional Example for "Channel Mapping"

The channel name is pulled out of whatever programme guide source you're using. If this is an XMLTV guide, for instance, GB-PVR will take the name from that. If you use an 'over the air' guide, the same applies. An example is with my XMLTV download vs. my DVB EPG source. The XMLTV file has 'BBC1' as 'BBC1 London & South East'. If I switch to the over-the-air DVB guide, the name that's broadcast is 'BBC ONE'. This can cause confusion when switching guides of various type.

This is kinda the tuning information. This is unchangeable as it refers to tuning frequencies or the info needed to extract the A/V from a digital broadcast etc. Well...you can change it if you want, but you'll get a different channel to the one you expect. Wink

Pretty much just personal preference as to how you see your TV Guide ordered and also for which channel comes up when you press 1, 2, 3...etc. on your remote.

Cheers,
Brian
