No resume for pending

When I start watching an in progress recording from the tv guide, stop watching, then resume watching, I get the resume/restart pop up.

When I start watching from the pending recordings screen, stop and resume, there is no resume button (as there is for completed recordings) and I don't get the resume pop up. Could one of those resume methods be enabled for pending recordings?
