Martin,
Just started tinkering with mvpmc and it's great... some really good possibilities here.

Just wondering if there was a way to automatically start playback of, or select a default MP3 playlist through the mvp?

Right now I've got a PC running basic Linux with MPD and MPC which automatically randomly plays a playlist corresponding to the day's weather forecast. Wife likes to turn on the PC in the morning and she knows what the weather will be like for the day as it starts to play random songs with "Cloudy", or "Sunny", or "Showers", or "Windy" etc in the title name. I'd like to use the PC for something else, so thought maybe mvpmc with Slimserver or similar may be able to pull off something similar. Any ideas?
Regards,
Hasso

Assuming the gif filenames that Yahoo Weather! sends are static this would not be difficult to add to the mpvmc Weather option, but it is also pretty esoteric and it doesn't really interest me. I don't like talking elevators, cars or computers. However if you take this the the mvpmc mailing list somebody might be.

You can also code and compile a custom version using the tools on mpvmc.org.

Note at one time I thought of porting a mpd client ncmpmc to the mvpmc, since we already have ncurses in the code, and I think it is entirely doable but there's almost too many great audio choices as it is.

Martin.

Thanks for that Martin. I've actually got this working now by having a cron job on my slimserver kicking off a perl script (which uses the slimserver CLI) to request the mvpmc mclient to start playing the appropriate playlist.

Hasso
