Remote Control on Nova-S-Plus

Hi,

I have an issue - while not strictly with GB-PVR - i thought someone here might have some ideas...

The Hauppauge 45 button remote that came with the NOVA-S-PLUS DVB-S PCI Card doesnt seem to be working - and im looking for items on how to diagnose the problem.

The device manager says there is a IR Decoder installed and running correctly.

The IR32.EXE is installed - and i can see the icon in the system tray indicating its running.

I have done the hauppauge fix from within GB-PVR.

The issue is not only with GB-PVR but also any app (even WIN-TV) - basically the remote is not working (or at least the pc isnt receiving signal).

I have the IR receiver plugged into the IR port as far as it will go - ive tried wiggling it etc (but to no avail).

Ive tried new AAA batteries just in case the ones that came with it were dead.

Failing that - is there anyone in Christchurch NZ that has a similar remote and receiver - so I could see if mine are faulty somehow?

Hi,
It sounds like you have the right stuff connected & IR32.exe installed & running okay.

Have you tried creating then opening in notepad a file called debug.txt then pressing buttons on the remote?
This will tell you for sure if the remote is talking to the PC, if you see text pop up in notepad in this file, then it's your applications that aren't picking up the key presses.

If that fails, it sounds like you may have a fault with something, pursue trying to get a loan of another remote/IR eye.

yip have found the problem (i hope) - the tip of the IR receiver jack has come off inside the jackpoint - so now i need to find some wiring schematics for the jack - so i can wire up a new one (which hopefully isnt as fragile)
