I have spent hours going through posts and can't seem to get anywhere. I am fairly new at this. I can't seem to get a picture for LiveTV. I have a Conexant 23880 Video Capture PCI Card (NTSC). When I setup the capture device (direct Recording installed cards only it found / Conexant BlackBird ) I have tried all combinations of Decoders and Renders as posted here in the forums - I even downloaded the MPV Mpeg filter. The program will find all of my cable channels when I use the Tunning Program, but when I click on Live TV it gives me the error / Object reference not set to an instance of an object ) I was using the supplied software WinTVr that came bundled with the card and was working fine, however I uninstalled that program thinking that it was conflicting with GB-PVR.

I really am lost as what to try next. I really love the interface and the idea of the program but I just can't afford to purchase a new system.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure your device has an onboard hardware MPEG2 encoder? This is required for compatibility with GB-PVR.

Reading the specs on the box would be a good start. If it mentions recording MPEG1, MPEG2 and AVI or Divx, then this is a good sign it relies on software encoding (ie, no hardware encoder).

Yep, sorry - this is a software only card, so not compatible with GB-PVR.

I'm not really in business of hunting down the best local price for users on the other side of the world Big Grin, but I can recommend good cards so you can try to find the best price - I'd go with either a Hauppauge PVR150 or Hauppauge HVR1600.
