sub Wrote:Sorry, probably not. That was what the Recordings screen is intended to be for - viewing the details about a recording/show prior to playing it. Is there a specific reason you dont want it in the recording screen? It shows the details that it sounds like you want to see.

yeah the recording screen does show the details we want but if we are not going to watch a movie for a while we tend to move it into the video library to tidy up the recordings screen and archive it for later - then when we go to watch the movie from the video library we cant remember what the program was about. so thats why i was trying to come up with a way to move the recordings and keep the info in the database rather then deleting it.

cheers

I personally don't use it but the archive feature of XRecord exports all this data to a .dat file when you archive to another location. When you view them in the xrecord video library the info is taken from the .dat file instead of the db and you see what you want.

I guess thats the bit I dont see the need for. I've got 550 recordings in the Recordings screen, and it nicely groups them into show name for me, so I'm quite happy to leave them there. I always thought this was tidy. I know some people have more than 2000 recordings.

The only thing we use the video library for is videos we've downloaded, or DVDs we've ripped to the hard drive.

For shows that are in episodes the above works well. Where it becomes a bit of a visual mess (for me) is where the films are listed. These used to be scattered around, but I went for the xmltvgui option of adding "film:" to the name, now they all appear in the same place, but I guess it would be neater if they dropped down a directory level to neaten the top listing up.

Yes, I do the same, but very now and again I jsut move them all to a sub-directory and then modify the xml dump file to re-import them (I put Film: as the Title, and mobe the title into the sub-title). WOuld be nice to automate this, but never got round to thinking how to do it

thanks for the replies - i guess i will have to scrap the idea and either live with missing out the info or leave them in the recording screen.

cheers

I do the same thing & have just finished moving, editing the recordingdump.xml & reimporting all the movies that the wife recorded over Christmas (takes a while) & an automated way to do it would help heaps. I have just tried out JavaWiz's new utility Episode Tweaker 2.0

http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=9

and it made the job quite a bit easer Smile

Old thread I know, but I too tend to place recordings I want to keep in the Video Library section. I can then put them into a neat directory structure so that they are easy & quick to find. When I have too many recordings in the Recordings screen I find that scrolling up and down the list is often painfully slow.

I notice that sub mentioned he and others have 500 - 2000 recordings which made me wonder if there is a quick way to scroll up and down the Recordings list (ie. page up/down) that I've not yet found?

I like moving my recordings to the Video Library too. Not sure why it appeals to me like it does, but I don't like my Recordings screen cluttered either.

Three_sheds, I run gbpvr using the PCH and you can use Skip Forward and Skip Back buttons to page up and down through the recordings screen. This might not be the same on the PC - I can't recall. I seem to remember it being Channel Up and Down to skip a page on the PC. If I wasn't so lazy I'd jump to the wiki but we'll leave that task for the truly curious. Smile
