Black borders around captured video

I am a little puzzled about the analog recordings made with my HVR 1600. On the left, top and right sides my recordings get a thin (ca. 8-10 pixel) black border. This is not really a problem, but I wonder if this is a "normal" effect.

Recordings captured with GBPVR, medium quality setting, analog cable. See the attached screen shot for an example.

This can be normal, particularly for analog recordings. This is part of the broadcast, but would normally not be visible because it'd be off the sides or top/bottom of your screen (due to TV overscan).
