Use AVISynth for codecs without DirectShow?

Hi,

I have a MJPG codec installed but gbpvr won't play AVIs encoded in MJPG in my MediaMVP. Is it because I not only need the codec, but also a DirectShow filter?

May I suggest that gbpvr use AviSynth to automatically provide a DirectSHow filter for codecs that do not have one? I am pretty sure it is one of the things it does.

BTW, where can I get a DirectSHow filter for MJPG then? I'd like to watch the videos from my digital camera with gb-pvr/mediamvp.

If you want to watch them through your mvp they have to be transcoded to mpg. I don't know if ffmpeg (the transcoder gbpvr uses) reads mjpg.

I do think you can play avisynth files through the mvp, however you might have to raise the preplay-time in config. I guess it takes a little longer to get the transcoding started.
